I landed in the UK to study.

I'm a Black immigrant. I came to the UK to study an MSc at London Metropolitan University. Nobody in my world talked about property. Nobody talked about investing or building wealth. It wasn't on the map for someone who looked like me or came from where I came from.

After graduating, I almost got deported.

Sudden immigration changes hit right after I finished my MSc. Just like that, the future I'd worked for was slipping away. The visa, the degree, the plan — all of it was up in the air. I was staring at a one-way ticket home and the end of everything I'd built.

If you've ever felt like it's over — like the door just slammed shut and there's no way through — I know that feeling. I lived it. And I'm here to tell you: it wasn't over. It was the moment that forced me to fight harder than I'd ever fought. The moment that taught me no system, no policy, and no setback gets to write the end of my story.

I became an IT Software Engineer.

I made it through. I built a career as a Software Consultant with a special interest in Quality Assurance — logic, systems, problem-solving. I didn't come from money. I didn't have connections in property. What I had was a willingness to learn and a refusal to accept that certain things were "not for people like me." And after nearly losing everything, I understood exactly what I was made of.

I managed 17 flats and learned the trade on the ground.

Before I ever bought my own deal, I spent years managing 17 flats — coordinating tradesmen, overseeing renovations, and putting finished flats back on the market for new tenants. I wasn't reading about property. I was in it. Learning how refurbishments actually work, what costs what, and where the surprises hide.

I binged on property content — then won on stage.

I venturing into property investing by binging on online materials. That led me to the famous £1 Crash Course in London by Samuel Leeds. On stage, the task was to find a viable deal online, analyse it for profit, and present it to a crowd of hundreds. I leaped for it — laptop and notepad in hand. The deal I analysed was chosen as the winning pitch. I walked away with £300 and something more valuable: the proof that I could analyse deals that actually stack.

I took a 90-day challenge and smashed it in 30.

I met Simon Smith, an authority in Serviced Accommodation. He had a training challenge: 90 Days to Starting Your 1st Serviced Accommodation. If you know me, you know I like a challenge. I paid for the training and went live on Airbnb and Booking.com in just 30 days — my first ever SA unit, live and earning.

I refinanced my home and bought my first deal at auction.

Then I met Abi Hookway of Touchstone Education. Seeing a woman smashing it in the UK property investment space was a driving force for me. Around that time, we had to refinance our home — and that's when all the knowledge I'd been soaking up became power. With money from refinancing, I went to auction, bought my first BMV property using my own funds and investor finance. Every investor got their money back with agreed interest. No questions asked.

Now I rinse and repeat — and I speak.

I have a model that works. It's been tried and tested. I've even appeared on BBC's Homes Under the Hammer — not once, but twice — showing off my refurb projects to the nation. I wrote a book — "Auction Properties Buying Process for Newbies: Facts You Really Need to Know." I built a deal calculator that tells the truth about refurb projects. And now I'm stepping onto stages to tell my story — not to impress, but to show people from backgrounds like mine that this world is open to them too. Black, white, all races and creeds. If I can do it, people like me can be inspired.
